The extension of the Itaca Puglia protocol, currently used for the sustainability assessment of buildings, to the assessment of urban areas has been proposed. The new protocol allows the analysis of any type of district without limits of extension and with any number of buildings. It is an easy-to-apply tool for designers. The high flexibility of the protocol in identifying neighbourhood weaknesses and strengths has been demonstrated. The protocol is highly linked to the spatial context.
